CVS and Walgreens are facing lawsuits for allegedly inflating the price of generic sold to their customers. The  issue is the cost of generic drugs for customers paying with their health insurance was more than if they would have paid for them out of their pocket. The woman who filed the lawsuit against CVS says, she paid $165.68 for her prescription that cost $92 out of pocket. That’s a 45% less than what she paid. The lawsuit against Walgreens claims that a customer paid $22 for prescription using his health insurance, that would have cost him $10 in cash. In both cases, the pharmacies didn’t make them aware that the cost of the drug with their insurance would be higher than if they would have paid out of pocket.
