We can all see how rapidly DFW is growing. There is construction going on in almost every part of the metroplex. But according to the Dallas Builders Association, we are in need of about 20,000 labors. The shortage in North Texas is worse than in any other part of the nation. Because of the lack of workers, the association is warning people looking to build or remodel that construction time will be longer and more expensive. Some builders are so desperate for laborers that they are recruiting from other job sites, offering $3 – $4 more per hour.

Although summer temperatures are on the way, there is some incentive to endure the heat. The association says that wages have increased over the past few years, laborers can look forward to making approximately $15 an hour and licensed sub-contractors can make around $90,000 a year.
